“Dutroux, the Escape”: documentary film for RTL-TVI
On April 23, 1998, Marc Dutroux escaped from the Palace of Justice in Neufchâteau during a transfer. Taking advantage of a moment when he was not handcuffed, he managed to seize the weapon of one of the guards and head towards the exit.
The documentary reconstructs the dramatic events of that day, twenty years after the tragic facts of Neufchâteau. Witnesses recount their experience to RTL-TVI.
The film examines the historical, media and judicial context of the Dutroux case, one of the most traumatic events for Belgian society in the 1990s, combining archival material, testimonies and dramatized reconstructions.
